Welcome to the 2020 Season!
|
|
A very warm welcome to the season 2020
After a significant delay we are finally on the verge of kicking off officially this weekend!!!
The commitee and a very handy tech guru has come up with a newsletter to further improve our great family club. The idea of this is to improve the connection between members, sponsors and families to our club. It is hoped that this is one of a few ideas we have to engage our community and continue are growth and improvement.
We will be featuring teams, sponsors and other club related news.
We hope you enjoy the first edition for 2020, we welcome your photos, ideas and contributions.
Happy reading and good luck to all this weekend

Pre-Season Fundraiser
|
|
On Sunday, 14th June 2020 our community came together with Perth Hills United FC to show support for one of our football members and family. From the moment that we heard about Jack, Maddie and their baby, we all felt very strongly that we wanted to do something to assist Jack in his recovery.
What we never envisaged was how everyone would come on board, turning up to play, donating prizes, time and supporting this cause. It was great to see so many teams being part of this fundraiser, from our Mini Roos, Junior and Senior teams. This was a great opportunity to get in a practice run before our season starts next week and also donate to Jack and his recover. Looking around, there was some great football happening and I’d say KUFC is going to have a fantastic 2020 season!
The support and generosity of our members was amazing. We were kept busy at the canteen and sausage sizzle. We also received lots of donations and sold quite a few tickets for the raffle prizes!
On behalf of KUFC & PHUFC Committees we would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone that donated, volunteered their time and supported this event. We are still totalling up the final tally….but will announce this shortly.
FYI…..raffles will be drawn this coming Thursday, 18th June 2020 and winners will be contacted.

Sponsor Spotlight
Meet aim2drive, aim2drive are our local, family friendly driving school. Established 6 years ago by Rich and Jo Bailiff, they now boast four cars on the road, a consistent above average pass rate and have also achieved numerous business awards, the most recent: Small Business of the Year.
It is their upmost priority to produce safe and confident drivers within our community. Their friendly team step outside the box to establish comfortable and confident learners. They train to the highest of standards and design their own driving lessons and learning resources to achieve effective results. Their business approach is authentic and community focused because locals care about locals. They are constantly looking at ways to improve and they’ve addressed investing money back into the business and community is absolutely necessary.
Here at KUFC, we are thrilled to have them on board and be one of our club sponsors. Not only are Rich and Jo’s sons proud players of the club, they also like to give back to the community. They stated ‘Supporting Community Sport is so important . It gives locals a happier and healthier lifestyle. As well as physical benefits, the impact it has on mental health is invaluable’.

U8 Coach: Kirstie Burns
Hi I’m Kirstie Burns, I’m the coach for the purple dingoes white team.
I’ve spent the previous 2 seasons as their team manager.
We are in our 3rd season and have progressed from clusters to 7 a side.
I have a fabulous group of kids who are enthusiastic to play no matter the weather conditions.
Their commitment to training is also outstanding as they train 2 nights a week to improve their skills and fitness.
The profess they have shown is remarkable, they have gone from all attacking the ball at once to
Spacing and shaping themselves throughout the field as well as trying cross passes.
I look forward to working with the team to further their progress and their passion for football.

U9 Yellow Dingoes Coach: Lewis Cann
I don't have a lot of Soccer experience to draw on for coaching the Yellow Dingoes for the second year. Apart from a stint in U6's in 1994, my Soccer career has mostly been watching World Cups and playing FIFA '05. I have however played Hockey since age 9 and coached juniors and seniors.
Season 2019 was a tough season for the Yellow Dingoes with many players just beginning their Soccer careers. Reward was found at the end of the season with a first Win. Now the core group hopes to build on that platform with a few new team members. With a few good training sessions so far, we are excited for a more fruitful season.

U10 Purple Dingoes Coach: Adrian North

The core of the team has been together since the four-a-side days of 2016. Anthony Whitten began coaching in 2017 and his coaching background plus the team’s own talent helped the team grow from half a dozen beginners to the dozen or so skilled players we have today. Like all children, the team don’t recognise in themselves the massive development that has been clear to all the parents. Thanks to Ant, the wonderful Aspire program, and of course their own talent the players will now do stepovers, feints, and defence splitting passes. They have also learned to work together as a team, valuing the quick pass and pulling a defender out of position as much as scoring. “Great goal” in 2017 has become “Great pass” in 2020. The team has learned that winning one week guarantees nothing for the next week unless it is accompanied by hard work, and that losing requires good grace and determination to do your best in the future. The team shows its real character in the training session following a defeat. The whole team thanks the parents for their time commitment and vocal support. The team loves the game and it is the commitment of parents that helps grow the next generation of footballers.

U14 Coach: Gareth Healy
|
|
This year Kalamunda United Football has had enough players in the U14’s age group to start up a second team and will field a 2nd Division side. The side is made up of a mix of long standing players at the club, some new players to the club and new players in their first proper season of club football.
The side is coached by Gareth Healy and managed by Gareth Munro, this the third season of the “two Gareth’s” who both have daughters playing in the team. Last Sunday was the teams first game, playing a scratch match against Perth Hills at which they managed to come away with a win to boost their confidence going into the first proper game of the season down at Fremantle.

Ladies Coach: Guy Thompson
|
|
We have now played 2 practice games and at the risk of peaking very early we have won both and
showed some great team development and played some very good football scoring plenty of goals
and showing some fantastic strength at the back. Bring on the div 2 South competition we are ready
to go.
On the playing front we welcome Jess Thompson back this year with her fearless approach to goal
keeping and she will again lead our side as Captain.
Our defence has gone from strength to strength with Zoe returning from Brazil to lock down the
middle letting us release Alicia to go forward a destroy opposition defences. Kelsey joins us this year
at centre half and we have full backs that play both sides with the ever-dependable Ruth joined by
awesome new players in Alex, Bec and Angela meaning our defence is as good as they come and is
the foundation of our game stopping the opposition and feeding our midfield on the counter attack.
The midfield is largely made up of returning players and is also strengthened by some more of the
new team members. Kaz, Coz and Andrea are joined in rotation by Nicole returning from last year
and Bec and Alex when they are not defending and Jana when she isn’t up front.
Our forward line is also a mix of the old and the new with Legs and or Jana on the left, Alicia and
Ruby and Nicole sharing the centre forward space and then Ruby, Shai and Coz attacking from the
right.
Our team has strength on the park and on the bench and with our continued focus on possession
football, passing efficiency and composure when we shoot we look forward to being very
competitive this year and welcome the challenge of meeting cross town rivals Forrestfield at home
in round one.
